I love to grow PEPPER Corno di Toro Rosso Pepper Long 8-12 inch tapered, bull-horn shaped, red peppers are sweet and spicy. They are great fresh or roasted. Large plants yield well. Among the best peppers you can grow and so delicious. Pure Italian seed. Great for market growers and home gardeners alike. This variety is the largest of the sweet stuffing peppers. Large, sturdy plants (Which can grow to a height of up to 4 feet) produce plentiful amounts of 8-12 inch long, tapered fruits that resemble a bull horn, hence the name. This variety is similar to the yellow variety although these peppers turn deep crimson red when ripe. They have the same sweet and spicy flavor, and are not hot at all. Fruits are about 1 1/2 inches wide at the shoulder and feature thick meaty inside flesh. They are wonderful roasted or eaten fresh. These are a traditional favorite in Italy.
not all sweet peppers have the classic bell shape. Many heirloom varieties, such as the Italian Corno di Toro Rosso pepper, are long and thin. The name of this Italian heirloom translates as ‘Horn of the Bull’, a tribute to this Sweet Peppers’ full, tapered shape. When fully ripe the fruits are a deep crimson red color . Suitable for cultivation in the greenhouse or outdoors, they mature 70 to 80 days from transplanting. They can be harvested while still green or can be left on the plant to ripen. These uncommon large fruited peppers are a traditional favorite of Italy. They have a sweet, crisp, full-bodied flavor that makes them popular among chefs and homemakers. Often served fried in Italy, they are also used in salads or stuffed, grilled with olive oil or in pizza and pasta dishes.’Corno di Toro Rosso’ has been awarded the RHS Award of Garden Merit (AGM).
