The Dynamic Microphone Amplifier is an active in-line preamp that offers +25dB of clean gain. It works with low-output and quiet sources like passive ribbon microphones, which lack sufficient gain. 1. Connect the output of the dynamic microphone amplifier to a preamplifier, mixing console, audio interface, or any other source capable of supplying +48V phantom power. When using long cable runs, the dynamic microphone amplifier can be nearer the mic or the preamp, depending on the equipment used.
2. Connect the dynamic microphone amplifier input to any dynamic, ribbon, or tube microphone. The phantom power will not pass through the dynamic microphone amplifier, making it safe to use with delicate ribbon microphones. In order to use it with microphones that require +48v, such as condensers, a dedicated external phantom power supply will be needed to power the micro-phone.
3. Start with the gain all the way down, then turn on +48v phantom power on your preamp, mixer, interface, etc. Slowly turn up the gain to the desired level.
