- Multiple Uses: This premium yarn can be used for knitting, crocheting and loom weaving. This pack includes 2 units of app. 3,5 ounces (100 grams) and 220 yards (200 meters) of recycled yarn. There may be a variation of ± 10% in the weight of the yarn. It is thinner that I’M NOT WOOL and thus the individual fibers of recycled material are combed and carded in a much more delicate manner, giving it a softer and smoother touch. It is a perfect choice if you like crocheting, stick or loom weaving.
- Circular Economy Production: This warm yarn is soft, perfectly uneven and with a harmonious touch, made from an infinite number of recycled threads making it unique, special and as soft as your favourite jersey. It was made from discarded used clothes, recollected and recycled in Chile, no water nor dyes were used in its production, making it one of a kind in the world. We are proud to say that this yarn is 100% recycled.
- Unique Colors: In the recycling process we select textiles of similar tonalities to generate our entire range of colors, which are subsequently mixed to generate a more rustic-looking strand, where it is possible to occasionally see some signs of the textiles from which this yarn was manufactured. Take into consideration that each color is unique and unrepeatable, formed from the mixture of the original colors of recycled textiles.
- Recommendations: To make this product more durable: wash with warm water, do not use bleach, do not hang up, do not squeeze or spin, do not iron. This product is not hypoallergenic.
- Our Mission: The purpose of I’M NOT WOOL PREMIUM and all the products manufactured by Ecocitex is to give a second life to Chilean textile waste and by doing so not only generating a positive environmental impact but also a social one. Every item elaborated with Ecocitex products can be recycled again.
Details: Ecocitex was born in 2020, when we bought an old spinning mill to process clothes in poor condition, with the dream of eliminating textile waste from Chile. To achieve this we collect disused clothing to transform it into recycled clothing yarn. This process is possible thanks to the knowledge of our workers who have years of experience in this trade and with the help of women who were formerly deprived of liberty, whom we are training in this work. To commercialize our yarn, we began to link mainly with female entrepreneurs with whom we managed to create a large network of points of sale throughout Chile, with which we are learning, generating product ideas and growing in community. With time and hard work, we started to gain recognition, and multiple awards, and we began to receive more clothes and much of it in good condition, so we devised a way to sell and donate it, to avoid recycling clothes that can be reused and to be able to help more people. We are so proud to be able to say that we are the only company in the world that makes recycled textile yarn and other products without the use of water or colorings in the process. That way we reduce our carbon footprint by reducing textile waste. We also firmly believe that the circular economy is the best way to run a successful company, and that’s why we put so much effort into professionally training our workers.
