Review
Poor Eeyore has lost his tail and is feeling characteristically depressed. His friends agree to help the little donkey by playing games. Unfortunately, the connection between playing the games and the whereabouts of Eeyore’s tail is missing. We (and testers, too) played each activity for extensive periods and were never able to unveil the lost tail or clues to its location. The best of the activities is a singing game, in which children choose the correct endings (via pictures) to songs sung by Kessie the bird. The recipe- following activity seemed unresponsive and should have asked for more input from the kids. And why not let children print out their decorated creations? Our testers wanted to but couldn’t. Kids liked Pooh’s Alphabet Stream, where they had to guide a boat into objects to see their associated letters, but there are no levels to this game, so there’s little challenge. Similarly, even the toughest level of the letter-matching activity is likely to be too easy for most five- and six-year-old children. The best area of the program is Piglet’s Short Stories, lovely renditions of Winnie-The-Pooh stories. A better tie-in to Eeyore’s tail would help, as would greater novelty and challenge. The graphics are terrific, but won’t save the program.
